Issue #954 The Choice, Thursday, November 6, 2025
I was all prepared to talk at length about the sweet significance of Tuesday’s blue wave election results, where we didn’t just defeat the Republicans, we stomped the hell out of them. But then I listened to California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s speech, which began with him talking about the overwhelming success of Prop. 50 in California, which ultimately could give California up to five more seats in the House of Representatives through redistricting.
But then, for the remainder of his speech, and what turned out to be the majority of his speech, he talked about how important and essential it is that we fully understand what’s coming. Because he knows that the Republicans are doubling down on the insanity and the cruelty and that Tuesday’s Democratic victories only assure that things are likely to get worse and more painful before they get better, which means we don’t have time to party but only to prepare and to organize.
This is just the beginning. I urge you to listen to this entire 9-minute speech. Gov. Newsom’s warning is what we all need to heed right now.
